Introduction to the Criminal Justice System

This course examines the organization and operation of Canada’s criminal justice system from a systems perspective. Students analyze the roles and functions of police, courts, and correctional services, as well as the legal framework governing criminal justice at all levels of government. Key themes include discretion, decision-making, sentencing principles, corrections, diversion, and the limits of authority.
